Start with the problem
Define the operational requirement before selecting the sensor, network or platform.
Civiteq is an Australian technology company focused on IoT product design, connected infrastructure, environmental monitoring and systems integration. We work at the point where devices, networks, field conditions and operational requirements come together.
Civiteq was created to solve a common problem in connected technology: too many systems are selected by specification sheet and only later tested against the realities of the site.
Our approach is different. We start with the environment, the operational problem, the available power and communications, the data required and the people who will need to maintain the system. The technology is then selected or designed around those conditions.
This approach applies whether we are developing a Civiteq sensor, integrating smart infrastructure, recovering an existing deployment or advising on a broader technology project.
Civiteq is deliberately practical. The aim is not to add technology for its own sake, but to make an operational environment easier to understand, manage or maintain.
Define the operational requirement before selecting the sensor, network or platform.
Assume real weather, real coverage limitations, real maintenance constraints and real users.
Use modular architecture where possible so sensing, connectivity and integration can evolve.
Consider device identity, interfaces, network exposure and system integrity during architecture, not afterwards.

Civiteq operates across both product development and project delivery.
Our own connected-device platforms provide a foundation for environmental, agricultural and infrastructure monitoring. Where a standard product is not the right fit, the same engineering capability can be used to create an application-specific variant or a fully bespoke device.
We also work with existing infrastructure, third-party hardware and operational systems where the task is integration, commissioning, technical recovery or improving an existing deployment.
Connected technology problems rarely sit neatly inside one technical discipline.
Civiteq combines embedded systems, IoT communications, networking, cybersecurity, systems integration and operational technology experience so that decisions made at one layer do not create avoidable problems at another.
Civiteq is led by Steven Goldsmith, whose background spans more than three decades across ICT, IoT, connected infrastructure, systems integration and technical delivery.
That experience includes embedded and IoT product development, network architecture, smart infrastructure, cybersecurity, enterprise systems and delivery in operational environments where reliability and handover are as important as the initial design.
The result is a company that approaches technology from an operator's perspective as well as an engineering one.
Civiteq works best where technology must survive outside the lab and become part of an operational environment.
Smart infrastructure, connected public environments, sensing, networking and operational handover.
Remote sensing, weather, air quality, water monitoring and distributed telemetry.
Livestock, environmental and remote asset monitoring designed around farm conditions.
Connected assets, edge systems, field integration and technical troubleshooting.
